PS came into our lives in 1976 and has been in charge ever since. During an outstanding career as an AHSA hunter (low, amateur owner, green, and working hunter divisions), she took a year off to have a stunning and talented foal, Summer Rain (1982). After she "retired" from the hunter show ring, she went on to win numerous hunter paces and place in the novice division of local 3-day events. Now in almost full retirement, she helps take care of recent foals. During the summer of 2006, she could often be seen standing over a sleeping foal while the dam took a grazing break. Her only other current job is to periodically let herself out of her pasture
to make sure that she isn't missing any good grass somewhere else.
She is truly a special gift.

Like her dam, Rainy's first career was in the hunter show ring. A stunning 16 h dark palomino, she was an elegant mover and athletic jumper. She earned points in both the over fences and under saddle classes, which resulted in many Championships, Reserves and year-end awards. Many times she and her mother would be champions in their respective divisions at the same horse show. After retiring from the hunter show ring, she went on to win and place in hunter paces and local 3-day events. During her retirement years, she also graciously and willing taught several people the finer points of cross country jumping. Always curious and social, she was the primary welcoming committee to newcomers at Glacial Ridge Equine. She has left a void that will be hard to fill, and her distinctive, gregarious and kind personality is missed very much by both her two- and four-legged friends.

This past summer, Wendy started riding her in lessons, and now hauls in with her for a weekly training session (thank God it's been a mild winter!). It's been wonderful watching these two ladies learn together as they create a lifetime bond.
